Week #1- Testing your IQ
I don’t think the test
that we took in class measures someone’s true intelligence, but just their
ability to perform on a test. First off some people could be having a bad day during
the test, which can affect their performance, but in real life they may be a
very intelligent person. Intelligence also comes in many forms. Those IQ tests
may measure a person’s ability to do well in school, but no way do they measure
the much more complex area of ‘intelligence.’ Also I doubt one person is way
smarter than someone else simply by answering a tricky question. But that’s all
those tests are about.

Overall
in this article, the Mozart effect was being studied. Generally, these studies were
tested to see if listening to classical music would increase your specific
types of intelligence, particularly spatial temporal abilities. After just a
few minutes of being exposed to Mozart music, spatial abilities does increase
quite a bit surprisingly. This believed to be true since your neural
transmitters are “warm up” to help improve spatial performance. However, the
Mozart effect might just be a myth, since they only tested on college undergraduates.
In my opinion, the Mozart effect won’t work but classical music does help you
relax and concentrate a bit.
